Turn my pain into purpose and Carry the Torch of Hope for others through my music
Matthew 5:14-16
Singer/Songwriter
Susie Hicks
Proud to count herself amongst the U.S. Navy Seabees, Susie served as a Heavy Construction Equipment Operator on active duty for 8 years.
~*~In addition to her goal of becoming a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, her deep passion for healing others is seen in her platform as a singer/songwriter.
Her aim is to channel a broad scope of life experiences and her capacity for deep reflection on the nature of human experience into music that creates a safe place for emotion to be felt, and- in that feeling- for healing to be found.
Her musical influences range from Classical (like Mozart Classical), Alternative rock, and Blues/Folk/Pop-Country fusions.
I HAVE ALWAYS HEARD THE CALL TO MUSIC
IT JUST SEEMED SO OUT OF REACH UNTIL NOW…
… until I could fully feel and accept that from which I have come- the path that led me here.
Here and Now for my unbecoming of all that was- the burning off of that which is no longer needed; and the discovery and refining of that which is my essence.
I am made of Grit: the rugged path I have trod and the sheer Determination it took to get here.
I am made of moonShine: the way you can see sparkles in beams of dust, or the glimmering of a dirty sidewalk when the pale light of the moon shines into the darkness.
~*~Focus on the light ~*~ Life is made of Grit and moonShine: The subtle things in the least expected places that remind us hope never dies~*~
I am a singer/songwriter and my name is Susie Hicks.
Seabee veteran Susie Hicks sings the National
Anthem at the Ventura Veterans Memorial as part
of Operation Green Light, a community program
that recognizes veterans and service members.
Being asked to sing the U.S. national anthem for an event is always an honor. As a vocalist, I see it as a service and a responsibility to embody the spirit of humble hope that we are reminded of in the question asked in the last stanza of the lyrics.

Until Thirty Pack Lullaby IS RELEASED!
In February of 2024, I teamed up with Shayne Hill, a Nashville, TN-based independent producer and lead guitar player for Sawyer Brown to record 3 of my originals at Saxman Studios.
Hearing my music brought life through the genius-level talent I got to work with was like a dream come true.
I am excited to share the final product with you in the coming months. It is totally worth the wait 😉
